The gambling widow Lady Reveller and female scientist Valeria are not your typical 18th century women, these independent strong women must fight to keep doing what they love, in this progressive ahead of it’s time restoration comedy, by one of the most prominent female playwrights of her time.

The Dream Songs Project’s Sixth Annual Concerts of New Music for Voice and Guitar. This year’s edition features a world premiere performance of Craig Carnahan’s song cycle, Promises and Interludes, songs by Toshio Hosokawa, a scena by Mark Weiser, and a revisit of our first commission from 2012, Daniel Nass’s Songs of Cowboys and Hobos.

Compatible Technology International presents a FREE screening of the movie Lamb, directed by Yared Zeleke. Lamb is a wonderful African made film about a little boy who wants to save his lamb from being sacrificed for a religious feast. Come watch this lovely film, and learn a little bit about what CTI does for smallholder farmers in Senegal and Malawi. Snacks and fun provided!

 

Nine Jewels: Stories of Wit and Wisdom from India

Duration: 45 minutes

Indian-born storyteller Zaraawar Mistry tells classic stories and animal fables of wit and wisdom from India. These popular and entertaining stories encourage children to learn about Indian culture and history, and also test their puzzle solving skills. Greg Herriges plays live music on guitar and bouzouki (Greek lute). The program has been performed in people’s homes, at libraries and schools, and at cultural centers such as the Minneapolis Institute of Art.

Stories presented are best suited for children ages 5 and older and will include:
Akbar and Birbal
The Foxes and the Tiger (a folktale)
The Tortoise and the Geese (from the Panchatantra)
Nine Questions (an Akbar and Birbal story)
