Jenson Dance presents
Sketch Mythology 2019

Performed/Modeled by Matt Jenson and Laura Selle Virtucio
Music performed live by Karen Majewicz
and Special Guest Lars Lee

Gods, goddesses, and fantastic creatures from Greek mythology abound, and YOU get to draw them! Modern dance blends with figure drawing to create a unique performance experience.

Throughout the six dances in Act I, you’ll get to warm up by drawing a series of 1, 2, and 4 minute poses. Act II will be one long pose. No previous drawing experience required, and paper and pencils will be provided. You are welcome to bring their own art supplies (nothing too messy, please).

Don’t remember much about Medusa? Never heard the story of Orpheus and Eurydice? Who the heck is Ares? Don’t worry…we’ve got you covered! Before the performance, you can stroll through a gallery of drawings and paintings that introduce you to the characters. A brief synopsis of each myth will tell you all you need to enjoy the show.

This performance contains a whole bunch of nudity. For audiences 18+

Trigger warning: Please note that, as with most Greek myths, the stories included in this show are full of potentially distressing elements such as war, decapitation, deaths of loved ones, and sexual situations

Sketch Mythology was created Matt Jenson and Laura Selle Virtucio in collaboration with many artists:

Applause Community Theatre presents
Three x Three: Our Annual One Act Play Festival

Applause Community Theatre is proud to present 3 one act plays by local playwrights. We chose two of these from several scripts submitted to us this fall/winter. The third was commissioned from resident playwright James Lundy. We have presented several of his works in the past to enthusiastic response. We are omitting descriptions of the plays as to do so could spoil surprises in the scripts. Please join us for an enjoyable evening of one acts.

  • Letters, by Ginny Leutgeb and directed by Gary Davis
  • Strings, by Brian Cern and directed by Duane Koivisto
  • Locked Inside the Pretty Box by resident playwright James Lundy and directed by Chad Snyder

Gone Missing
Music & Lyrics by Michael Friedman
Book by Steven Cosson

Gone Missing is a wry and whimsical documentary musical about things that go missing — keys, personal identification, a Gucci pump…or one’s mind. The show is a collection of very personal accounts of things lost and found, creating a unique tapestry of the ways in which we deal with and relate to loss in our lives. Devised from interviews with real-life New Yorkers by The Civilians, a New York-based company producing new work from creative investigations. This 80-minute, one-act musical is performed with no intermission.

Theatre Elision develops and produces new or reimagined theatrical works that tell compelling stories with music, acting, and visual art. Learn more…
