Grandma Greta’s Garden
Directed by Laura Wilhelm
In this production, Grandma Greta has saved some of her seeds from last year in order to plant her garden. While waiting for the plants to grow, a sneaky rabbit tries to avoid detection and a bee looks for something to eat. Will Greta stop the rabbit from getting into her garden? Will the bee find a flower to make food?

The Ants Who Wanted to Fly
Directed by Anne Sawyer
Two ants want to fly very badly, so they wait for an egg to hatch, thinking it will be a bird they can hitch a ride on. They are disappointed when they find a caterpillar has hatched out of the egg, but they keep waiting and watching to figure out how to fly. Follow the ants as they discover the joy of the natural world!

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

 

Life on a Stick: Everyday and Sublime Stories

Life on a Stick: Everyday and Sublime Stories

Drawing is how Anita navigates everyday moments with humor, philosophy and empathy. Her sketchbook is always open to document life’s fleeting moments. Everyday difficulties and hassles are the doorway to a humorous story. “Nothing is so scary you can’t draw it!”

These visual puppet shows are “drawn” from her everyday life. Pen and watercolor drawings are taped onto bamboo skewers or toothpicks and stuck into simple styrofoam stages.

The whimsical and philosophical puppet show she will share include:

  • A Compassionate Bank Teller
  • From Here to There and Back Again: A Winter Fantasy Getaway
  • A little sliver of Life on a Toothpick from the 60’s & 70’s
  • Fragrant Fun at The Minneapolis Impound Lot
  • Rumi Shadow Poems with Inner Meaning and Light

Following her presentation the audience will have a chance to create their own tiny “Life on a Toothpick Moments.” Materials are provided.

The Stuffed Animal STATE FAIR Show

The Stuffed Animal STATE FAIR Show
The stuffed animals, with the help of the kids, act out having a tiny sized BIG day at the Mini-sota State Fair! Plushies will get to twirl on a tilt-a-whirl, enjoy teeny treats on a stick, judge a prize pig contest, and more all while discovering that winning new friends can be the best prize of all!

Hosted by Leslye Orr, The Stuffed Animal Show is an interactive theater experience for children ages 3+ and their stuffed animals. Kids bring their own plushy, or get one from our grab bag, and join Zip the chipmunk and his friends. Leslye Orr animates the whole gang with wacky sounds and voices while also sharing creative ideas for imaginative play. A tiny-sized tea party for all stuffed animals follows each performance.
